Health of our Dogs


At Vicoridge Kennels we feel the health of our dogs to be a priority.

Our stud dogs are Hip X-rayed at 2yrs - 6yrs and 10yrs, we do Elbows at age 2 and eye tests yearly, thryroid tests are done when we feel appropriate, as well as prior to breeding,  we also have full bloodwork done. Dogs are checked for any herpes virus as well as viral warts.


Our Bitches have Hips and Elbows X-Rayed at 2yrs and 6yrs, full bloodwork done at at 3yrs, eye tests yearly and Thyroid tests when appropriate. Prior to breeding our bitches are swabbed and urine tested for proteins, and a full medical check.

We believe although the breed does not have any current genetic diseases, it is essential to test and keep a track of all scores and tests to make sure the breed is healthy for the future, and all offspring have the best chance at healthy lives being bred from fully tested breeding stock.
